Versatile Design: This tester comprises a main Master unit and a detachable Remote unit, each equipped with RJ11 and RJ45 jacks. The device, powered by a 9-volt battery (not included), comes complete with a zippered synthetic leather case for convenient storage and portability.

User-Friendly Operation: Featuring a straightforward setup, the Master and Remote units boast 9 LEDs, each representing the status of individual lines on the connected cable. The tester supports both fast automatic and slow automatic modes, allowing users to choose the best mode for their specific troubleshooting needs.

Seamless Testing Process: Connect one end of the cable to the corresponding jack on the Master unit and the other to the matching jack on the Remote unit. IMPORTANT: Avoid connecting to a cable plugged into a live circuit to prevent potential damage to the tester or other equipment on the circuit.

Toggle the tester power switch to the "On" or "S" position. For optimal results, utilize the Slow Automatic mode (S position) for a more detailed examination, ensuring simultaneous illumination of identical LEDs on both the Master and Remote units.

Observe the LED sequence on both units. In standard conditions with a well-functioning straight‑through RJ45 cable, the LEDs will illuminate in sequence (1‑2‑3‑4‑5‑6‑7‑8‑G) simultaneously on both units.

Identifying Issues: Diagnosing faults becomes a breeze with the Monoprice RJ11/RJ45 Tester:

A. A broken or disconnected wire will result in the LED illuminating on the Master unit, while the Remote unit remains unlit.

B. Crossed wires produce distinct LED patterns on the Master and Remote units. For instance, if the 3rd LED on the Master unit and the 5th LED on the Remote unit both illuminate, the wires are crossed between pin 3 on the Master side and pin 5 on the Remote side.

C. In the case of a short circuit between wires, no LEDs will illuminate on either the Master or Remote unit.
